About CDA

Centre for Development Action (CDA) is a nonprofit organization that aims to establish an equitable society in Bangladesh by enhancing comprehensive development through its research, programs and policy advocacy. CDA was registered on 20 March, 2019 under the Trust Act 1882 (Deed No. IV - 6/2019; amended Deed No.VI - 1/2021), Directorate of Registration, Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Bangladesh.

Bangladesh has made commendable progress in many development indicators over the past decades, although there still exists uneven development. Because of this uneven development, a large section of the society stands denied and deprived of basic entitlements that are essential to maintain a minimum standard of living. It requires comprehensive development across the country to build a happy, healthy and peaceful nation. In this regard, CDA is continuing its contributions toward creating a happier, healthier, and more peaceful nation by research, programs and policy advocacy. The Centre helps both practitioners and policymakers with scientific evidence that is generated by its applied research to design programs and policies with a focus on marginalized, vulnerable, and disadvantaged communities. Programs bring immediate solutions to the problem that thousands of people have been undergoing for years, and thus the positive effect of program implementation is immense and visible. On this ground, the Centre designs and implements programs to improve the wellbeing and standard of living of people, especially marginalized, vulnerable, and disadvantaged communities in Bangladesh. Policy advocacy has a great role in establishing good governance and justice in society by changing existing policy, legislation and regulations involving both decision-makers and communities. In this context, CDA being engaged in policy advocacy aims to ensure good governance and justice at grassroots, local, and national levels.

As a thematic focus, CDA has decided to work in the fields of health, family planning, maternal & child health, occupational health, nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), education, gender, environment & climate action, disaster management, disability and elderly population and agriculture.
